Katie discovered yoga twenty years ago as a young actress. Every morning her improvisation class began with five sun salutations to warm up the body and focus the mind. Little did she know that this simple practice would become the foundation of her life's work and passion.

Years later, after earning her MFA in acting, Katie moved to New York City to pursue a career in the theater. It was there that she developed a committed yoga practice that inspired her to become a teacher. The discipline of yoga provided a natural extension to her years of work on stage. It continued to serve as a creative means through which she could explore the connection of body and mind. She personally trained and became certified by Cyndi Lee, founder and director of the prestigious OM Yoga Center in New York City.

It was here at OM that Katie was also first introduced to Buddhist meditation. She was trained as a teacher to apply Buddhist principles to the practice of yoga. Katie has since fully embraced the Buddhist path, and attempts to apply it to every aspect of her daily life including teaching.

Katie was inspired by her training with Shiva Rea to create dynamic flowing sequences in all her classes. Katie is as passionate about teaching as she is about the practice of yoga. Her classes are at once mindful and precise, with great attention to detail in alignment, as well as dynamic, playful and full of joy. Katie wholeheartedly encourages her students to embrace the process of waking up to the experience of life.
